Publius Syrus was a Syrian writer and philosopher, born in the 1st century BC. He was known for his collection of moral sentiments and aphorisms, which were widely popular and widely read during his time. He was enslaved as a child but later managed to gain his freedom and work in the Roman theater. He became known for his witty and wise sayings, which were collected in a book called "Sententiae." Some of his famous quotes include "A rolling stone gathers no moss" and "Rome was not built in a day." Through his writing, Publius Syrus influenced the Romans' moral views and the development of the Latin language. His works have been translated into many languages and are still studied and admired today.
